JUST VIEWS: a Free & Open
Monthly Video/ Discussion Progra

Friday October 13, 2006, 7:20 pm
"Dirty Tricks on Elections. Outlook 2000-2006+"

The short features we’ll view together tonight reveal the varied ways that partisan election officials and other insiders as well as hackers and other outsiders have been able to tamper with USA election systems to tilt the outcomes in FL, NM, NV, OH, PA . . . and right here in IL. In one, the recognized researcher Harvey Wasserman details what was perpetrated in the presidential races of 2000 and 2004. In another, we’ll see how easily people from Princeton were able to hack into the widely-used Diebold systems to change results. The films show how multiple tactics have worked and how easily hidden, tally-distorting manipulations can be done, leaving no evidence of tampering. The discussion following will examine the likelihood that these election-subversion methods will be used more in upcoming elections by those in power now in order to hold on to control. We’ll discuss what IL Ballot Integrity and others are doing to expose these dire problems with elections administration and what we all can do, including right here in DuPage County, to make our election systems trustworthy.

These 2nd Friday evening Just Views programs start at 7:20 pm, are sponsored by the DuPage Peace through Justice Coalition and held at the Unitarian Church in Naperville IL at 4 S 535 Old Naperville Road (630/505-9408).
