2007 -- Insiders Report CIA Intervention
Intelligence -- gathering information on the activities of groups and
individuals who might be positioned to do harm to our country is not all
that the Central Intelligence Agency has been doing since it was
chartered in 1947. Within the CIA and other agencies, Intervention also
has been central. This documentary is based in part on the book by
retired agent John Perkins: Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. Through
film clips and interviews with various insiders, this report
investigates techniques used by elite cadres of professions to intervene
-- in various, little-known ways -- in the affairs of governments and
movements.
Audience discussion following the film will explore a) the intended
effects and other consequences of specific interventions covered; b) the
rationales and ethics involved; and c) various alternatives-- utilized
already and possible going forward.
